We spoke to designer and founder of Robe, Rebecca Kroon, about all things fashion.

What has been a highlight of your Robe fashion journey?

I was fortunate enough this year to be able to expand the Robe team. I now have two women working part time on the brand strategy, marketing and PR aspects of the business. We are a brand for women by women and we work from within the brand itself to empower women – it’s been very exciting. To be able to grow a team and work with such amazing women has been a true highlight.

Favourite international holiday destination and why?

The French Riviera. The most recent collection, It’s Always Summer Somewhere, is based on time spent on the Côte d’Azur with my husband and children last year. I loved it because it is steeped in history, the beaches are beautiful, the food was amazing (I shopped every day at an outdoor market in Antibes) and I got to just relax, explore and spend time with my family. The Mediterranean is so lovely to swim in – and even better when someone comes by boat to offer you a mojito! Oh and the Côtes de Provence Rosè isn’t bad either!

Ultimate Australian escape and why?

Hastings Point. My husband and I have a small beach shack there which we try to get to as often as possible. I love it because there is very little there – a couple of camping grounds and a convenience store. The beach is untouched Australia at its best – white and for the large part deserted. It’s my little piece of paradise.

Which do you prefer, city or country living, and why?

I am a city girl at heart. I love the options a city provides – amazing restaurants and bars, beautiful parks … hustle and bustle. I would love nothing more though than to buy some acreage close to a beach, get some chickens and grow my own vegetables. My husband tells me I would last approximately two weeks without my hairdresser, dry cleaner, local butchery and the movies.

If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be and what would
you serve?

Giorgio Chirico – his painting, Mystery and Melancholy of a Street, really impacted on me as a child and I would love to know what he was thinking when he painted it. I would probably serve him a good steak with some truffle butter.

A weekend in spring is best spent?

On a boat in Moreton Bay with friends, family and champagne. Or is that any weekend??
