One whole year since its return to the tracks, The Mary Valley Rattler is celebrating the first anniversary of the heritage rail experience’s on Sunday 6 October with the launch of a new service and a birthday party that all are welcome to attend.

Following the great success of food events like, deguSTATION, as part of The Curated Plate food festival The Mary Valley Rattler has launched, Tasting Train. Running as a new Tuesday weekly service, Tasting Train will highlight Mary Valley’s renowned food produce at various stops along the way, while including tastings on board the RM 76 Railmotor, The Red Rocket. Launching on 12 November, the Tasting Train is expected to compliment the service, the Rattler Picnic Train, that runs every Thursday.

To celebrate the first anniversary, there will be the first running of the All Stations Train on Sunday 6th October. The train will leave Gympie at 10am and meander through the picturesque Mary Valley, including a stop at the heritage Dagun station, offering the popular local wine and cheese tastings. The train travels to Amamoor Station, where passengers can watch the fascinating process of the turning of the engine on the turntable.

Micheal Green, General Manager of the Mary Valley Rattler said that the return of the Rattler has helped the revival of tourism for the region over the past year. “The Mary Valley Rattler was far more important than just a train ride, it has assisted in placing the Gympie region as a tourist destination on the map,” said Mike. “The Mary Valley is one of the most attractive and productive food producing areas in Australia and what we are doing with our new services is to link the destination firmly with the Rattler experience.”

A small number of seats are still available for the birthday service, including travelling in style in the First Class Car, with passengers enjoying a local cheese and wine offering as they travel in the iconic Club Car. Ticket prices can be found on the website.
