Nestled in the rolling hills of the Gold Coast hinterland is the home of all things equine and luxury, Rivermead Estate. Steeped in history, Rivermead Estate spans 55 acres that formerly housed the Gold Coast Polo Club. The glory of the property has been rediscovered as a contemporary oasis by Tim and Karin Gordon, established property developers and Gold Coast locals. The pair have taken the previous standard of the property and surrounds to a stunning new level. The estate’s historically ingrained equestrian culture has been kept alive though Tim and Karin’s decades of involvement with horses. Their vision for the property caters for beginners wishing to learn polo or dressage, as well as the experienced equestrians looking to advance their skills in these disciplines.

Tim’s personal love of landscaping and his background as a tradesperson is evident in the details of the property, while Karin’s flair for design has seen her weave her magic with understated whites, blues and neutrals reminiscent of Ralph Lauren inspired interiors. The result is an exquisitely luxurious escape in the lush Gold Coast hinterland. Its renovated opulence was unveiled at a grand re-opening earlier this year. Tim and Karin hosted VIP guests on the lawns, around the pool and in the residence and its cellar. There was also a magical performance by former Sherbet lead singer Daryl Braithwaite of his popular song, The Horses.

Tim and Karin are embracing the tourism market with their upgraded multi-faceted estate, with additional facilities already planned for the future. “We’re just about to enter the next phase of development, which is the restaurant and indoor arena and stables,” Tim said. “It’s really exciting at the moment.” The stages currently being developed will set the property further apart from other venues in the region, he said.

Rivermead Estate already boasts polo fields, a macadamia plantation and a freshwater lake flowing into the Coomera River, as well as abundant natural features. Manicured grounds and horse paddocks provide a perfect backdrop for the gracious Rivermead Estate homestead. The plantation home quietly observes the hinterland from all angles, and also pays tribute to the owners’ frequent holidays in Hawaii. “We love the natural beauty; the casual but smart casual environment that we adore,” Tim said. The breathtaking Guanaba property is just 30 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Surfers Paradise, but this country estate seems a world away.

Rivermead Estate’s offering is abundant, from the spirit and energy of polo matches to the peaceful retreat of the day spa. This sublime getaway is designed to cater to all the senses. “The property is quite active during the day, but at night it’s all quietened down,” Tim said. When they are not running the property or making use of the private gym, Tim and Karin love to entertain family and friends by the open fireplaces that have been retained and restored from the original homestead. “We just sit back and put our feet up and have a fire; just recharge the batteries,” Tim said.
