A new custom-designed headquarters has been created for Brisbane’s HIT105 and Triple M, being declared one of the country’s most advanced super studios.

Dubbed ‘Audio HQ’, the exclusive space has now begun broadcasting after 12 months of planning by Southern Cross Austereo Brisbane. In one of the biggest and most technical relocations in radio history, the two stations left from its home at North Quay to The Barracks at Petrie Terrace. The task was phenomenal in itself, with 125 members making the mammoth move without a break in transmission. Under the direction of SCA Executive General Manager Queensland Damon Rielly, Brisbane-based Jane McConnell Interior Design managed the design and Mettle project-managed the build, with every team member able to be a part of the process. Designed with an array on input from employees of both radio stations, ‘Audio HQ’ has several exciting new features for radio teams.

Some of the technical add ons include more than 50 kilometres of data cabling, 101 television screens, 218 computer screens, and the largest electrical switchboard in SCA history. Three exclusive artworks have been created by contemporary Brisbane Artist Matt Stewart, creating his interpretation of the future of audio within Australia. A corporate rooftop entertaining space has been renovated, utilising the views of Caxton Street, Suncorp Station, and the Toowong reach to Mt Coot-Tha. A dedicated sound space for clients and artists has been manufactured to allow clients to listen to newly created content and tracks. Design and technology have merged together to create a futuristic workplace, allowing for the layout to become interchangeable with programmable lights and screens. All of this partnered with a dedicated staff cafe and river views, has allowed ‘Audio HQ’ to become the envy of radio stations from around the world.
