Australia’s leading tourism operators have been celebrated at the 2018 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards held in Launceston on Friday 1 March.

Four businesses were inducted into the Hall of Fame, including Toowoomba’s Carnival of Flowers which took out Gold in Major Festivals and Events, for taking out the top honour for three years running. The Irwin family were named the Australian Tourism Legends, a prestigious award recognising the family’s continued contribution to the local tourism industry and their tireless work protecting the environment.

Chair of the Australian Tourism Awards Daniel Gschwind congratulated all the winners and finalists from across Australia. “To reach the finalists stage of the Australian Tourism Awards is a great honour in itself and all finalists should be immensely proud of their efforts,” he said. “The winners from tonight’s event truly are the best of the best, with a lot of strong competition across all categories. Those that have taken home the trophy have been honoured for their hard work, innovation and commitment to quality, which contributes to the ongoing success of our $55.3 billion tourism industry. It is businesses like these that drive the growing contribution that tourism makes to the economy and communities right across Australia.”

Other winners included Novotel Twin Waters Resort who took out Bronze in Business Event Venues, while Blue Ginger Picnics was awarded Silver in New Tourism Business. The Awards, which showcase the best in outstanding customer service, innovation and ongoing business excellence, were presented in front of industry peers and officials from across Australia.
