Get ready to take flight because the Living Room Bar at W Brisbane is welcoming a sense-tingling menu of cocktails in a collaboration with East London’s Oriole Bar.
On May 19, guests were invited to trial and indulge in the newest creations mixed exclusively for the Living Room Bar, which are now available. East London master mixologists Ali Ali, Mihai Ostafi, and Samet Ali are the brains behind Oriole and the cocktail collection, Flight of the Senses, which takes inspiration and flavours from the Old World, New World, and The Orient. The menu has 15 stunning drinks, which take you on a journey across 13 countries, as well as an Australian-inspired drink, the Toowoomba Cocktail. This drink draws inspiration from the taste of the Lamington which is said to be named after former Queensland Governor, Lord Lamington. The drink has a bittersweet taste thanks to the mixture of Belvedere Pure Vodka, Regal Rogue Wild Rose Vermouth, Cocoa Falernum, Campari, berry blend cordial and wattleseed and coconut soda, and the chocolate cup resting on the top filled with a selection of berry notes and nuts to complete the taste.
Other stand-out drinks include the Alajuela, a drink inspired by the fragrant tastes of Alajuela, Costa Rico with coffee and creme brûlée notes, and The Way of Arles, a fruity drink drawing inspiration from Toulouse, France, that is served in a bird-shaped bottle. The drinks are thoughtfully curated to each region with The Azalea Martini taking inspiration from the celebration of the Azalea flower in the Guizhou region of China. The Azalea Martini is a floral tasting drink with a combination of beefeater 24 gin, lemongrass, and kaffir leaf vermouth, ambrette seed liqueur, and a lychee sphere to add to the elegant taste of the drink.
W Brisbane’s Music Curator will have live music every Friday and Saturday evening to entice those looking for a place to relax and those looking to indulge in the cocktail scene. The Living Room will welcome the high calibre of drinks to their menu with the East London trio combining unique tastes with theatrics for each drink. The East London trio are the owners of Oriole and sister bars Nightjar and Swift, which all frequently feature on the World’s 50 Best Bar Awards list.
Oriole’s Bar Manager, Ali Ali said that for the concept behind the drinks. “We decided to keep the concept of exploration because we believe that now more than ever people miss the feeling of travelling and discovering new tastes, colours and ingredients discovered in the farthest reaches of the globe.”
