Authentic food festival Scenic Rim Eat Local Week showcases local produce, food collaborations and feasting, this year launching one of the first ever Camel Milk & Honey Vodka. Summer Land Camels at Harrisville just an hour from Brisbane has proved necessity is the mother of invention – during production of their famous camel milk cheese, the owners were left with a lot of camel whey, so they decided to use it to create one of the world’s first camel milk vodkas. Mixed with honey from their own farm bees along with the camel whey, this small batch vodka is hand-made and exclusive, retailing for $495 per bottle.

CEO of Summer Land Camels Jeff Flood said excitement has been generated for this product due to the limited quantity as well as its uniqueness. “Already 1000 bottles have been exported to China for service in their high-end restaurants. International interest from speciality buyers has been huge,” said Flood. He said that given the produce is local, the flavour of the vodka will vary slightly each season due to changes in both the milk and the honey.

Scenic Rim Eat Local Week runs from 29 June through to 7 July and features more than 90 events from Canungra to The Lost World, Beaudesert to Boonah, Tamborine Mountain to Kalbar, Scenic Rim Eat Local Week. It’s the ultimate backstage pass to the farms, wineries and food stories of the region, a celebration that features festivals, farm-gate events and culinary experiences for foodies of all ages. The Scenic Rim is just one hours’ drive from Brisbane.
