From fine dining restaurants to seaside cafes, the 2018 Queensland Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering HOSTPLUS Awards for Excellence finalists have been announced.
Spicers Retreat‘s The Tamarind Restaurant has been named a finalist in the Best Asian Restaurant and Bistro C in the Best Breakfast Restaurant category. Imperial at the Star has been shortlisted in the the Chinese section along with Glass Dining and Lounge Bar in the Contemporary Australian Restaurant – Formal category. E’cco Bistro has been highlighted in the Best Contemporary Australian Restaurant – Informal and Il Centro Restaurant as the Best Italian Restaurant.
There were various Best Fine Dining finalists including Aria Brisbane, Little Truffle Dining Room & Bar, Room 81 and The Long Apron. Many Best Seafood Restaurants were also named on the shortlist including Gambaro Seafood Restaurant, George’s Paragon Seafood Restaurant and Jellyfish Restaurant. New Restaurants on the scene like Black Hide by Gambaro, Salon de Co and Walter’s Steakhouse have been recognised, as well as potential Chefs of the Year including Alejandro Carcino from Urbane Group, Ben Russel at Aria Restaurant, Ben Williamson from Gerard’s Bistro, Jack Nicolson at Blackbird Bar & Restaurant and lastly Sean Calliste from Jellyfish.
The Awards for Excellence program formally recognises hospitality operators across a broad range of categories who consistently provide exceptional service and demonstrate culinary excellence in their respective fields. Restaurant & Catering Australia (R&CA) CEO Juliana Payne congratulated each of the finalists on their nominations. “On behalf of the Association, it is my pleasure to congratulate the individual finalists of the 2018 Awards for Excellence in Queensland and the Northern Territory,” said Juliana. “All the business-owners recognised in this year’s Queensland and Northern Territory Awards have been recognised for their dedication and hard work as industry leaders in each of their respective fields.”
The winners of the Awards will be officially announced on Monday 27 August at the formal gala dinner at the Royal International Convention Centre in Brisbane. R&CA is the peak industry body representing 45,000 cafes, restaurants and catering businesses across Australia.
