Brisbane-based hairdresser, William Webb, has become one of four lucky recruits to join the prestigious Australian Fellowship Academy of Merit and Excellence (FAME) Team announced at the recent Australian Hair Fashion Awards (AHFA’s), the country’s premium independent hairdressing awards program. Becoming part of the FAME team will provide William with a year of “money-can’t-buy” opportunities across the globe where he will experience an unbelievable line-up of mentors, stage experience and opportunities to work on photographic shoots with some of the best names in the global hairdressing industry.

Webb, Head Stylist and Educator at Ella & Jade Hair and Queensland’s Hairdresser of the Year (2017), said becoming part of the FAME team was a dream come true. “It truly is a life changing opportunity that will introduce me to incredible mentorship and exposure to next-generation hairdressers from not only Australia but the globe,” Webb said.

Leading the FAME team is Australian hairdresser and Creative Director Jack Morton, who said it would be a year of hard work and big rewards for the new recruits. “I am so pumped to start a new year with a new team,” Morton said. “I can’t wait to welcome these four amazingly talented hairdressers to the FAME program and let the year of hard work, great rewards and above all fun and friendships commence!”

The final four were chosen from fourteen finalists after completing a live skills demonstration in front of a group of Australia’s finest hairdressing industry experts, including Sharon Blain, Sarah Laidlaw, Uros Mikic, Kobi Bokshish and Katy Reeve.

David Mannah, Creative Director The Journal Magazine, said this is another strong line up to represent the future of the Australian industry both home and overseas. “The calibre of entries just gets higher year on year so these guys really smashed it,” Mannah said. “I am looking forward to working with them.”
