Australia’s newest food shopping concept Mercado will open on King Street mid-October. A 1500 square metre marketplace, Mercado will open from dawn until dusk, packed to the rafters with seafood, meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, chocolates, fruits, vegetables and everyday convenience items, to speciality teas, bottles and more.

Project Manager and spokesperson for Mercado Group, the team behind the development, Shaun Dunleavy said Mercado is an Australian, even global first, putting a contemporary, luxury spin on day-to-day food shopping. “Mercado was born out of a deep passion for connecting people, over one of life’s greatest pleasures; food. We set out to tantalise tastebuds and inspire human connection within a bustling, world-class marketplace experience,” Shaun said. “Mercado was established to take you anywhere and everywhere; to give you a place to explore diversity, create memories and unite over a mutual appreciation for fine quality produce. The concept will be the ultimate food shopping experience, turning weekly grocery shops into culinary food journeys.”

Mercado is set to open its doors mid-October 2018.
