The winners of the 2018 Queensland and Northern Territory Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering HOSTPLUS Awards for Excellence were announced last night at a gala dinner held at the Royal International Convention Centre in Brisbane on Monday 27 August. The Savour Australia Hostplus Awards for Excellence is a nationally recognised, independently judged awards program that recognises exceptional service and culinary talent across Australia. It provides publicity for hospitality businesses, a chance to network with key suppliers, and acknowledges the achievements of hospitality staff.

The winners across this year’s major categories from the Queensland region included Caterer of the year, Gabbinbar Homestead, Cafe of the Year, Room with Roses, Restaurant of the Year, ARIA, Brisbane and  Lifetime Achiever Award to Mr Tony Percuoco of Ristorante Tartufo Brisbane.

Restaurant & Catering Australia (R&CA) CEO Juliana Payne congratulated each of the Award winners on behalf of the Association and thanked all Award participants for their contribution to the hospitality industry in Queensland and the Northern Territory. “I am absolutely delighted to recognise the winners of our Queensland and Northern Territory Awards on behalf of the Association across all 41 individual categories,” she said. “Each of these Award winners have displayed culinary excellence which has taken the hospitality industry in both jurisdictions to a new level.” “I’d urge all visitors to both Queensland and the Northern Territory not just to take our word for it but to go out and support these businesses and experience this culinary excellence first-hand,” Juliana said.

Other winners from various categories include the Tamarind Restaurant as Best Asian Best Breakfast Restaurant, Bistro On3, Best Breakfast Restaurant, and Goodness Gracious Cafe took out the best Cafe Dining category. Imperial at the Star won Best Chinese restuarant, while Sono Japanese Restaurant Portside Wharf took home the Best Japanese Restaurant. Room with Roses Brisbane was awarded Best Coffee/Tea House, Tides Waterfront, Best Contemporary Australian restaurant and Aria Brisbane placed Best Fine Dining.

Best Restaurant in a Casino/Hotel/Motel was won by Bistro On3,Gold Coast, Best Small Bar was Roosevelt Lounge, Seascape Restaurant & Bar took out Best Formal Seafood Restaurant while Jellyfish Restaurant took home the Best Informal Seafood Restaurant award. Well known, Black Hide Steakhouse, was awarded Best Steak Restaurant while Jelly Fish was also prized with Best Tourism Restaurant. Hospitality awards Best Chef of the Year was awarded to Jake Nicolson of Blackbird Bar & Grill. Congratulations to all award Recipients.
